About Me

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. My name is Sarah Bergman. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Additionally, I hold a Special Service Provider (SSP) license and currently work in Denver Public Schools part-time as a high school social worker. I have worked in two different school districts for over 15 years with experience in elementary, middle, high school, and post secondary programs. My work has centered on individual and group therapeutic interventions for youth and young adults in mostly school settings with additional experience in outpatient and residential treatment.

In addition, I have held various leadership positions within the school districts including school mental health and special education team leads, district crisis team coordinator in two different districts, and the clinical consultant for the department of psychology and social work at Denver Public Schools.

But my passion is therapy. My approach to therapy is varied to each individual- I meet you where you are and we go from there. I work from a strengths based and person centered approach which basically means you are your own expert! I draw from the cognitive therapeutic approaches including CBT, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness modalities.

I find myself drawn to this work given the complexity of issues that youth, adolescents, and emerging adults face today. What I find to be the most exciting aspect of working with these age groups is witnessing the formation of individual values and beliefs, the exploration of identity, and the move towards independence. I am constantly in awe of the personal insight and capacity for self direction that my students and clients possess.

I moved to Colorado for graduate school and never left! I love traveling (some favorite destinations include Slovenia, China, and Australia) and enjoy spending time with my family including my two young children. I do lots of “Colorado” things including skiing, hiking, and camping. I also love to read and spend time with friends. I received my undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Vermont. I love New England and miss the gorgeous fall weather out east.
